Phil Scully

Phil co-founded Balerion Space Ventures in 2022 and is a general partner. Prior to Balerion, he was the co-founder and general partner at Explorer 1 Fund, LLP. Prior to that, he was an equity analyst at DA Capital (Goldman Sachs Asset Management), worked in the investment group at The Capital Group Companies, and was an investment banking associate at Credit Suisse Securities. He is a graduate of Georgetown University (MBA) and Kenyon College (BA).

Daniel co-founded Balerion Space Ventures in 2022 and is a partner. Prior to joining Balerion, he was a founding principal at Explorer 1 Fund, LLP. Prior to that,  he managed a single family office. From 2018 - 2021, Daniel was responsible for building out a direct early stage venture capital strategy.  Daniel holds an MBA from Tel Aviv University and New York University and an Honors in Business Administration from Western University.

Daniel co-founded Balerion Space Ventures in 2022 and is a partner. Daniel worked in a variety of roles in the aerospace industry prior to joining the Balerion team. He was a founding principal at Explorer 1 Fund, LLP. Prior to that, he was a member of the business development and strategy team at Blue Origin from 2017 to 2019. From 2011 to 2015, he worked for The Boeing Company as an engineer, where his work focused on space exploration and missile defense. Daniel received his MBA from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and his bachelor’s and master’s in aerospace engineering from the University of Southern California.

Eric Smyth joined Balerion Space Ventures in 2024 as a Senior Vice President, bringing over 20 years of experience to the firm. He was previously Director of Business Development for New Holland Capital, a multi-strategy hedge fund. Prior to that, Eric was Head of Investor Relations for Admiral Capital Partners, a fundamental long-short equity hedge fund. . Previously, Eric was a commissioned officer in the U.S. Coast Guard. He holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering with honors from the United States Coast Guard Academy. Eric is a CFA® charterholder.
